Natural hair care with rosemary

Natural hair care with rosemary: 2 easy recipes
You can easily prepare a lotion to apply to your hair after shampoo. All you need are the following ingredients:
- water (enough) to fill a saucepan;
- 3 handfuls of fresh rosemary twigs or dried rosemary;
You can then make the lotion by boiling the water with the rosemary twigs. Once the water has reached boiling point, turn off the heat and leave to stand for 15 minutes. When the infusion has cooled, filter the liquid to remove the twigs. Pour the lotion onto your hair and massage gently to ensure all the natural goodness of the rosemary is absorbed. Do not rinse.
An alternative rosemary based hair lotion can be made using apple cider vinegar. This helps to regulate to pH of your hair whilst adding shine. For this version you will need:
- 1 handful of rosemary twigs
- apple cider vinegar (enough to soak the rosemary twigs)

To prepare simply place the rosemary in a bottle and cover it with apple cider vinegar. Reseal the bottle and leave it in a cool dark place for 2 weeks. Before applying, dilute the lotion with water in the ratio of 1 part water to 3 parts lotion.Mix well and apply to hair, leave for a few minutes before rinsing off. Using the same method, it is possible to make a massage oil that stimulates the scalp and hair, simply replace the cider vinegar with Jojoba or olive oil.
If you want to darken your hair and to cover grey, use the following lotion. You will need:
- 450g of water
- ½ cup of rosemary (chopped)
- ½ cup sage leaves (chopped)
Bring the water to a boil, add the chopped rosemary and sage and simmer for half an hour. Turn off the heat and leave to stand for at least 3 hours. Filter the liquid to remove the sage and rosemary. Now your lotion is ready! You need to rinse your hair with this lotion 15 times for it to be effective. To avoid waste apply the product to your hair over a basin so as to collect the lotion after every rinse.
After the final application leave on for 10 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.
